The Sevier County Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SC SpEd PAC) held its twenty-second meeting on May 8, 2007. Five members attended. New Topic · Transition Update Melinda Dunlap, Special Education (SpEd) Consulting Teacher at Pigeon Forge High School, has been chair of Sevier County's SpEd Transition Committee since the beginning of last school year. The only topic of this meeting was this committee's work in preparing for monitoring from the State this year and last. The committee has gone well beyond the minimum required for State compliance and adopted a comprehensive program to foster high school graduates' continued success. The next step is attending to the needs of those students who will not be getting regular diplomas and most of the PAC meeting focused on the proposal to co-locate the training facilities of our student workers among the businesses they are and will be supporting. There is no business space available to our students right now, but the PAC brainstormed some possibilities in an effort to get this program in place by the start of the 2007-2008 school year.
