Sevier County Special Education Parent Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes

The Sevier County Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SC SpEd PAC) held its first meeting on February 26, 2003.  Fourteen members attended.

Members received a draft mission statement for review, prior to finalizing it at a later meeting.  Also deferred to later meetings were administrative details such as having officers and becoming a not-for-profit agency.  Jeff Romanczuk agreed to be keep the documentation under we decide how to spread around these administrative chores.

Rather than have representative of local special education-related groups (such as Tennessee Voices for Children, Tennessee Early Intervention Service, Douglas Cooperative, etc.) be permanent members of the SpEd PAC, the parents decided to have the membership be parent-only.  We will invite these agencies, as appropriate, to any meetings when their input could be helpful.

The members also decided that monthly meetings would be appropriate, especially in the early stages of the SpEd PAC.  The next meeting will be on March 18, 4 to 5:30 pm.  To help decide the best time/day for future monthly meetings, please completed the attached survey and return it to Jeff Romanczuk.

Priorities that emerged from the initial SpEd PAC meetings are summarized by the eleven items on the activities priorities questionnaire attached.  Please use this document to set your own priorities and return it to Jeff at or before the March meeting.
